KAMPALA – The Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development in charge of Privatisation, Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi, has praised Ranchers Finest Ltd. for advancing Uganda’s industrialisation agenda after the company secured a major export agreement to supply processed beef and premium meat products to Ethiopia.
Speaking after a meeting with the company’s management, Mukalazi described the agreement as a testament to the government’s efforts to promote value addition and expand Uganda’s export markets.
“I had a productive meeting with Ranchers Finest Ltd. The firm operates a modern beef processing facility in Kawempe and recently secured a supply agreement to export approximately 20 tonnes of processed beef and premium meat products to Ethiopia every month. This is a strong example of value addition driving Uganda’s exports,” she said.
The minister noted that the company’s success demonstrates the growing competitiveness of Ugandan manufactured and processed agricultural products on regional markets, adding that value addition remains central to the country’s strategy of increasing export earnings and creating jobs.
Ranchers Finest Ltd., which operates a modern meat processing facility in Kawempe, processes high-quality beef and premium meat products for both domestic and international markets. The newly secured export contract is expected to strengthen trade ties between Uganda and Ethiopia while opening up more opportunities for the country’s livestock sector.
Mukalazi said government would continue supporting private sector investments that promote industrialisation, improve product quality and increase Uganda’s presence in regional and international markets.
She emphasized that encouraging local processing of agricultural products is critical to increasing farmers’ incomes, creating employment opportunities for young people and boosting foreign exchange earnings.
The development aligns with government’s broader economic transformation agenda, which prioritises value addition, export promotion and private sector-led industrial growth as key drivers of achieving sustainable economic development.
Industry analysts say the monthly export of approximately 20 tonnes of processed beef to Ethiopia is expected to enhance Uganda’s reputation as a reliable supplier of quality meat products in the East African region while encouraging further investment in modern agro-processing facilities.
