KAMPALA — The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Henry Musasizi, yesterday met the Board and Management of Uganda Airlines to discuss the national carrier’s 10-year strategic plan, with government reaffirming its commitment to reforms aimed at strengthening the airline’s long-term sustainability and competitiveness.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Finance (Planning and Privatization), Hon. Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi, who accompanied the finance minister as the airline’s leadership presented its long-term roadmap for growth.

According to officials, the discussions focused on Uganda Airlines’ strategic direction over the next decade, including measures to improve operational efficiency, strengthen financial performance, expand the route network and position the airline as a key contributor to Uganda’s economic development.

The ministers commended the Board and Management for the progress made in implementing the airline’s mandate and encouraged them to remain focused on reforms that will enhance service delivery and commercial viability.

Hon. Mukalazi said government remains committed to supporting initiatives that will transform Uganda Airlines into a profitable, reliable and world-class national carrier capable of supporting investment, trade and tourism.

She noted that a stronger national airline would play an important role in improving Uganda’s connectivity with regional and international markets, while facilitating business travel, exports and tourism.

The ministers also underscored the importance of ensuring that the airline’s strategic plan aligns with the government’s Tenfold Economic Growth Strategy, which seeks to accelerate economic expansion through increased investment, industrialisation, value addition and improved infrastructure.
