From Toyota Corolla FX champion to four-wheel-drive contender, Ibrahim “Pasuwa” Lubega is taking aim at Uganda’s rallying big league.
Ugandan rally star Ibrahim Lubega, popularly known as Pasuwa, has thrown down the gauntlet for a new chapter in his motorsport career—launching a $50,000 fundraising drive to acquire a powerful Subaru Impreza N14.

Pasuwa unveiled the ambitious campaign during a press conference at Copper Chimney, as he seeks to make the long-awaited jump from the two-wheel-drive category to the more competitive four-wheel-drive class of the National Rally Championship (NRC).

For years, Pasuwa has built his reputation behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla FX, becoming one of the leading names in Uganda’s 2WD rallying scene and collecting multiple championship titles.
But now, the veteran driver wants to leave the familiar front-wheel-drive machinery behind and take on Uganda’s biggest rally names with a car capable of matching the powerful four-wheel-drive machines dominating the NRC.
The $50,000 target
The fundraising campaign is targeting $50,000, approximately Shs180 million, to secure the Subaru N14 and give the Pasuwa Rally Team the machinery needed for its next challenge.

Pasuwa is calling on motorsport fans, corporate companies, sponsors and well-wishers to support the project as he seeks to turn his four-wheel-drive ambition into reality.
The move would represent a significant transformation for a driver who has spent years competing successfully in the 2WD category.
A new battle awaits
Beyond competition, Pasuwa has continued to keep his connection with motorsport fans alive through competitive events, exhibition sprints and training showcases, including activities at the Festino City double track in Mukono.
His latest campaign now places him at the centre of another race—a race to raise the money needed to acquire the Subaru N14.
If successful, the project could see one of Uganda’s experienced 2WD competitors enter a new era, taking his battle from the front-wheel-drive class to the high-powered four-wheel-drive arena.
For Pasuwa, the message is simple: the Corolla FX chapter may be approaching its final lap, but the Subaru dream has just taken the green flag.
END.
