Players to fly business class as Uganda steps up preparations for continental showpiece
KAMPALA — Uganda Cranes players are set to enjoy enhanced support ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations after Government pledged to finance the national team’s entire AFCON budget.
The commitment is expected to cover the team’s preparations and participation at the tournament, which Uganda will co-host with Kenya and Tanzania under the PAMOJA 2027 arrangement.
As part of the package, Cranes players will travel business class, ensuring the team arrives at its destinations under comfortable conditions during the continental tournament.
The Government’s financial commitment comes as Uganda accelerates preparations for hosting AFCON 2027, with major investments already being made in stadiums, training grounds and other sports infrastructure across the country.
The support to the Cranes is also expected to ease the financial burden on the football administration while allowing the technical team and players to concentrate on preparations for the tournament.
Uganda will be making a major appearance on the continental stage as one of the three East African co-hosts, with the tournament expected to attract football fans from across Africa and beyond.
With the financial responsibility now firmly on Government, the spotlight shifts to the Uganda Cranes. The facilities are being prepared, the funding is being secured and the tournament is coming home to East Africa. What remains is for the players and technical team to turn that support into a strong showing when AFCON 2027 finally kicks off.
