KINYOGOGA — Senior government officials, political leaders, religious leaders, and hundreds of mourners on Saturday gathered in Kinyogoga to pay their final respects to Mr. Wilson Kansime, the elder brother of State House Comptroller Jane Barekye, in a solemn burial ceremony marked by emotional tributes, prayers, and messages of comfort.
The burial attracted several senior government officials, Senior army officials and community leaders who joined Barekye and the family in celebrating the life of Mr. Kansime, remembered as a humble, hardworking, and respected elder whose life was dedicated to family, faith, and service to his community.
A special condolence message from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was delivered by the Minister for Security, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi. In the message, the President expressed his heartfelt sympathy to Jane Barekye, the entire family, relatives, and friends following the loss of Mr. Kansime.
President Museveni described the deceased as a man who had lived a meaningful life of creating wealth through cattle rearing and urged the bereaved family to remain united and draw strength from God during the difficult period of mourning. He thanked mourners for standing in solidarity with the family and encouraged Ugandans to continue supporting one another during times of loss.
While addressing mourners, Maj. Gen. Muhwezi conveyed the President’s assurance that the government stands with Barekye and the family during their time of grief and prayed for the peaceful repose of Mr. Kansime’s soul. Through the minister for security, museveni contributed 10 million Uganda shillings to the family as well as the minister Jim muhwezi gave 5 million as a person to the family
In her tribute, State House Comptroller Jane Barekye thanked President Museveni for his message of comfort and expressed gratitude to the president for taking all the treatment challenges of the late Wilson kansime, she further thanked all government officials, relatives, friends, and members of the public who stood with her family throughout the mourning period.
“Our family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support we have received. Your presence here today has strengthened us as we bid farewell to our beloved brother,” she said.
Religious leaders urged mourners to remain faithful and cherish the time they spend with their loved ones, reminding them that death is inevitable but that a life lived with integrity leaves a lasting legacy.
Following prayers, hymns, and tributes celebrating Mr. Kansime’s life, he was laid to rest at the family ancestral home as mourners paid their final respects.
The ceremony concluded with messages of unity, hope, and encouragement, with leaders calling on the family to remain strong and preserve the values of humility, hard work, and compassion that defined Mr. Kansime’s life.
